This entry level program will
teach kids the basics of paddling. The emphasis will be on
kayaking, with some experiences in canoeing. The program is
designed around fun, with lots of games and introductory
activities. This one week program will help teach/develop:
-
On-water safety concepts.
-
The importance of balance
for watersports
-
Basic Propulsion strokes
-
Initial movement concepts
DEVELOPMENTAL YOUTH:
The developmental program builds
on skills learned from previous experiences, and provides
and introduction to competitive paddling. While the focus is
still fun, by the end of this two week program, participants
will:
-
Experience paddling in a racing
trainer/racing hull.
-
Learn more advance propulsion
strokes.

Further develop balance concepts.

war canoe.

history, and other activities.
COMPETITIVE PROGRAM:
Here the
focus is on season-long training for sprint racing. Many
youth enjoy the friendly and fun atmosphere of competitive paddling. Athletes will have opportunity to compete in
regattas (races) throughout the province. This program
involves a bigger commitment from participants, but provides
much more technical and physical development. |
